Hang Seng announced the launch of its NFC payment service with PCCW mobile a few days before its H1 2013 deadline.

NFC Times Take:

PCCW mobile noted its announcement of NFC commercial service with Hang Seng Bank in November of 2012 was the first of its kind for Hong Kong. Despite active contactless payment programs at the point of sale, such as Visa payWave, MasterCard PayPass and the Octopus Card transit fare-collection scheme, as well as a high penetration of smartphones, there have been few NFC or other contactless-mobile payment trials to date in Hong Kong.

* Trusted Service Manager: Defined loosely to include companies or other organizations securely distributing, provisioning and managing applications, generally over the air, on secure elements in NFC mobile phones; or licensing their platforms for this purpose.

N/A: Not available or not applicable.
